Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 11:13PM Comic-Con: Trailer Makes 'Priest' Look Pretty Decent
What was the last fully redeemable Screen Gems movie? You've really got to search, and I'll give you two options because I'm in a good mood: Lakeview Terrace? Probably not. The Exorcism of Emily Rose? Maybe. I didn't think it was that strong, but if it isn't that, there's not one in the past decade.

Gems has two coming up, though, in Easy A and Paul Bettany's Priest that show some signs of life. Actually, we had to wait until this Comic-Con trailer to have much hope for Priest, since the underling of Sony has already shoved it around a couple times. Delays are almost never a good sign and when you have done nothing but put out garbage for ten years, it's tough to see the bright side of a few release date changes.
But this is a pretty effective two minutes from a post-apocalyptic vampire movie and one man, Bettany, who kicks ass for the Lord. Good visuals, especially since that's most of the movie, from what we're given here. It's always easier to overdo it, but I don't think they have.

Gotta wonder about that May 13th opening. Sandwiched between Thor and Pirates 4, there's not much room to make a big statement, but with more trailers like this, it could at least start strong, I suppose.
