Sunday, July 25, 2010 at 3:39AM Comic-Con: Meet the Cast of 'The Avengers'
Below, courtesy of Cinematical, is your cast for The Avengers. At least the good guys. That's Robert Downey, Jr. on the far left, and when you enlarge the photo, note the scary resemblance to a younger Robert Evans.

This was one of the biggest reasons people were interested in Comic-Con this year, not that people are commonly disinterested. But in that universe, where movies have almost completely taken over the weekend's highlights, here's a gigantic push by Marvel Comics that the whole gallery can get behind. How big is it? Well, Marvel made sure to sign Mark Ruffalo Friday so the new Bruce Banner could be on stage Saturday night. This was always an important date to The Avengers.
And here's the rundown, left to right: Downey, Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Ruffalo, writer-director Joss Whedon, Marvel's Kevin Feige. Quickly: Do you think Hemsworth will have any trouble looking godlike next to the other Avengers? Sam Jackson's not a small man and Hemsworth is about half a head taller.
As for Ant-Man, another sub-Avenger about whom there have been a ton of rumors, I don't know if he's not in the film, if he's only going to have a tiny role, or if they just couldn't put together a deal fast enough. We know Edgar Wright's making the movie eventually, but maybe the idea is to do a standalone. I think it'll probably be a cameo here, if anything. Just look at the stage and tell me how there's room for more.
We still don't have villains, so the cast still has a ways to expand, but the primary roles are set.
