Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 9:28AM 'Let Me In' - New Red Band, New Red Snow Poster
A new poster and a new Red Band trailer have popped up for Let Me In, as this film is suddenly becoming one of the more heavily promoted fall releases (it opens on October 1st). Dig the bloody snow angel:

So why would Overture - which was recently acquired by Relativity Media - be putting so much effort into this movie right now? Well, first, I think the sale has nothing to do with it; this plan was cooked up a while ago, and a lot of it had to do with aligning Let Me In with Comic-Con. Not that it's the same playing field, but nobody really thought much of Twilight, another teenage vampire story, until Comic-Con two years ago. Then, suddenly, it was inescapable. Again, that won't happen here, but it proves that Comic-Con can build buzz for a film from smaller studio with a less logical subject.
The second reason is because there's not much between August and October that really appeals to the same crowd. Piranha and Resident Evil are both horror flicks, but I think this might have more in common with the Scott Pilgrim audience, and that movie should be out of gas by October. So it makes sense to start drumming up interest now, and I'm sure, outside the absolute die-hards who have nothing positive to say about remakes as a general rule, Overture is planting a seed with people.
Here's the new Red Band, which we got from Trailer Addict but originally spawned from the film's Facebook page:

Pretty much a shot-for-shot remake of "Let the Right One In"
