Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 12:46PM Tom Hardy Replaces Worthington in 'This Means War'
If you saw Inception and asked yourself, "Who is that guy," that guy was probably Tom Hardy. He's the new Mad Max, too, which means we're about 30 years from hearing phone calls of him threatening his girlfriend and using racial slurs. Something to jot down for later. But Hardy has already impressed people with his work in Bronson and his stand-out performance in Inception is sure to lead to more roles.

Like, say, This Means War. Vulture reports that Hardy will replace Sam Worthington, who flirts with a lot more movies than he sees through, but I think I prefer Hardy, anyway, maybe just because he hasn't been overexposed. The film will pair him with McG, a prospect few of us would be crazy about, but it does co-star Reese Witherspoon and Chris Pine.
The concept is two spies fight over the same girl, using all the tricks up their sleeves. Stuff blows up in a tug-of-war over Reese Witherspoon, in other words. Reese is producing, along with Will Smith's Overbrook Entertainment. Hmm...I wonder what role Jaden Smith will play.
This Means War goes back about ten years, and at that time noted terrible actors Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence were going to star. I think this is a pretty clear step up from that, and the spy genre itself has undergone so many fundamental changes since the project first took hold - thanks mostly to the Bourne franchise, so it's probably good that the wait has been this long.

watched Bronson on your recommendation the other day after I saw Inception and really liked Hardy. His acting in Bronson is outstanding. Absolutely great. Thanks for the recommendation.
I think Tom Hardy is a better choice for this part than Sam Worthington. Sam seems too bland somehow. I've seen him in Star Trek Nemesis as Shinzon and thought he played that part very well. It would be good to see two "Trek" actors make "war" outside the Trek universe. I've also seen him in the "Virgin Queen". Very good.
I have yet to see Inception.
So, it is looking good for "This Means War" - just have to get on and finally make the move!!!
screw Sam Worthington to be honest... getting all these roles & he's shown us nothing.... however the film The Debt does look really good
Tom Hardy is brilliant im glad he's becoming more & more successful, watch out for this guy!
Tom Hardy? Rom com? Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!
