'Scream 4' Changes Writers, Faces Cast Upheaval

Already a bit sketchy, reemerging over a decade later, Scream 4, the film that will purportedly kick off a new trilogy, is having trouble putting one foot in front of the other. After putting together the cast, Wes Craven is now seeing defections as the film enters production and on top of that, it appears that the script has undergone some last minute changes. Zap2It reports that Lauren Graham has left the project because the role she received was much smaller than the one she was promised, and her departure comes the same week Lake Bell cited scheduling conflicts and backed out, too. And Hayden Panettiere is reportedly complaining that her supporting character has been "dumbed down significantly," and has left her "beyond frustrated." The reason all this stuff is happening right now is because Kevin Williamson's script has been handed over to Ehren Kruger. Kruger has had more success lately than Williamson, but he also wrote Scream 3, which isn't good for anybody. Williamson bolted the project over creative conflicts, and now we can see why. What effect will this have on the series, I wonder? Williamson was going to write the trilogy, and it's probably a safe bet that won't happen now. But with so many changes during production, we may not even get to that point. In the meantime, four other names have signed up - Adam Brody, Marley Shelton, Alison Brie, and Erik Knudson. Problems solved!

I'm beyond mad, writer Ehren Kruger who wrote the script for Scream 3, which messed Scream 3 up! And now they put the script in his hands again? Didn't they learn from the first time, I'm pissed, real pissed and if the film comes out a disaster, I don't know what I'm going to do. I understand where Hayden Panettiere is coming from because she's the next lead to Emma Roberts character Jill, who is the cousin of Neve Campbell's character Sidney Prescott, btu I really hope this is NOT true, and that there is no re-writes!

Sorry Tyrin, you might be the only one who really cares about a Scream 4. If this movie even gets completed, I'd say this registers a solid meh on excitement scale...

im sort of in wait and see mode on this right now but this doesnt sound good and looks like it could ruin the mgic of the first even further then the sequels did

Kevin Williamson isn't leaving. He's in Atlanta shooting, Vampire Diaries. So, they brought in Kruger just to assist if any thing needs to be changed, since he worked on Scream 3. And only minor things, if any, will be changed! But, Kevin's script is still being used. It's still his story. The actors who dropped out were just because they had other shows to shoot during ther schedules for the movie. So, Scream 5 and 6 will still happen, like they said before! :) Hopefully... They said the cast complained about this, but its not true, so everything is ok!
