Friday, August 13, 2010 at 12:18PM Trailer - Rudd, Reese, and Jack in 'How Do You Know'
James L. Brooks doesn't work all that often. How Do You Know is his first film in six years and only his sixth overall, a list that begins with Terms of Endearment and includes Broadcast News, As Good As It Gets, Spanglish, and I'll Do Anything, the only one I couldn't remember. Three of the five were Best Picture nominees.

How Do You Know doesn't appear, on the surface, to be in that category, but it's hard to say anymore with a ten-movie field. It has three elements I think I'll enjoy - Paul Rudd, Jack Nicholson, and Reese Witherspoon - and one I'm perfectly weary of these days, Owen Wilson. And to be fair to Wilson, he doesn't really bother me in this trailer.
Per his usual, Brooks will juggle comedy, love, and more serious stuff, and also not breaking the mold, How Do You Know opens in December, like four of his other movies. Seriously, what is I'll Do Anything doing with the rest of these?

Looks good. Owen Wilson doesn't look bad in it either, and with Reese and Paul to balance him out, he could do horribly and the movie will still be good.
I think he had bigger plans for I'll do anything and ended up ditching them. I believe it was conceived as a musical if I remember correctly. He probably realized it wasn't working at some point, but was in too deep to do anything about it. His first two films are classics, As Good as it Gets falls into the category for me of "overrated but still good," and Spanglish was sadly under-appreciated (and Tea Leoni needs to work more than she does...)
What I like about his four good films is that they transcend what is seemingly simple subject matter, so I am looking forward to anything new by this guy.
Ok so Reese Witherspoon potrays a woman who doesn't know what she wants? And this is different how? In all honesty it does look promising, I am not I can maybe buy Owen Wilson as a middleman reliever, or is he like the bullpen catcher???? It looks promising. Could be funny like really funny.
Always good to see Jack.
It looks very funny and has a great cast. Anyone know the song at the end? Love it.
I have been keeping track of your site for a long time I read these articles, this is an interesting reading I will continue to pay attention to it more
