Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 9:55PM Brooklyn Decker Boards 'Battleship'
She was rumored to be the replacement for Megan Fox in Transformers 3 for a short while, and now Latino Review says Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover model Brooklyn Decker has landed that first big movie role. She'll co-star in Peter Berg's mauling of the central concept of Hasbro's Battleship.

Models in movies are nothing new and Decker - who might have the coolest name in the history of hot chicks - handles herself in interviews a lot better than most, so maybe she has some natural ability. Well...clearly, she has some natural ability, but you know what I mean.
You might argue that it takes more than a naturally easygoing presence to be an actor, and you could be right. However, this isn't about acting. This is Peter Berg slowing moving from being a Michael Mann knock-off to a Michael Bay knock-off because the money's better. So Decker will just have to look good and deliver a few short lines of emphatic dialogue.
What could be developed as a really cool WWII naval battle movie using the name Battleship as a bridge back to the game is now an aquatic Independence Day that will bridge to pretty much nothing. Yeah, the world has to band together while aliens attack and for whatever reason, the aliens, which are presumably a more advanced civilization, will go exactly where the slowly moving boats are.
The movie shoots in the Gulf of Mexico soon, but I'm guess they'll wait till the oil' diluted and everything. Universal has earmarked this one for a summer 2012 voyage, and man, those trailers had better be something because this sounds like a studio just setting money on fire.

Colin, there's a brand new trailer for Black Swan. Post it, it's incredible:

Getting to that...
Were you saying something, Colin? All that was going through my mind was boobs.
I dunno' maybe this could come off as a cross between a Tom Clancey story AND "Independence Day" or maybe the alien is some big underwater thing like "Sphere". I need to see a trailer to really get a handle on it. The main thing is it sounds like it just so happens to be CALLED "Battleship", just not necessarily based on the game - and I mean c'mon - would we really be talking about this more seriously IF IT WERE BASED ON THAT PLASTIC, MILTON/BRADLEY TABLE-TOP BOARDGAME. I mean really, I can see more an anthology drama/comedy type movie made from the game LIFE that Ridley Scott was supposedly gonna' do, than I can see from "Battleship". It really sounds to me, so far anyway, like they've done - what you'd just have to do - if you got a really stupid assignment of "Adaptation" like this - and Y'KNOW it HAD to seem as stupid as the script assignment Nic Cage got in THAT movie. Anyway, so far I kinda' admire that it seems like they took it and ran with it. I'm waitin' on that trailer.
Actually Decker's first big movie role is in Just Go With It.
Butter face.
