'Saw' Contributor Making Date-Specific Flick '11 11 11'

I'm never fond of targeting the release date first and making the movie second. It's different with the holidays, because that's truly a season unto itself in a lot of ways. Perhaps that forgives, slightly, something like Valentine's Day, which is already a crassly materialistic day, anyway. This, however, is totally different. Producer Wayne Rice "saw that 11-11-11 falls on a Friday and immediately wanted to have a movie open on that date," according to Heat Vision, thus we present 11 11 11, to be directed by Saw graduate and Repo: The Genetic Opera guy Darren Lynn Bousman. Excuse me for not following that utter bullshit numerology, but I had no idea there was supposedly anything to that sequence of numbers, other than an annual occurrence every year in the first dozen of a century. I'm reading now that "11 11 11" does have significance to people who look for significance in everything outside of the hard realities of life. Here's a blurb I found on some cockamamie website.

"For many years the numbers 11:11 have been mysteriously appearing to people all over the world. Often appearing on digital clocks, the sightings of 11:11 tend to occur during times of heightened awareness, having a most powerful effect on the people involved. This causes a reactivation of our cellular memory banks. There's a stirring deep inside, a hint of remembrance of something long forgotten."

Thankfully, I suppose, Bousman's film won't have anything to do with that. It's darker. The movie will "take on the idea of 11 gates of Heaven and how on 11:11 on the 11th day of the 11th month, the 11th gate will open up and something from another world will enter the earthly realm for 49 minutes." What happens on 11.12.11? For starters, the post offices close. Ooooooh, spooooky! Actually, it's Postman's Day in Mexico, so they're always closed on November 12th.
