Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 5:08PM Scott Bakula Says We'll See a 'Quantum Leap' Movie
I'm just thinking that if an A-Team movie lost money, a Quantum Leap film may not be a sound idea financially. And yet...

Blastr reports that Scott Bakula told the 600 or so fans in attendance for the Comic-Con panel A Leap of Faith: A Quantum Leap Retrospective that a movie adaptation is indeed in the works. If nothing else, that's unexpected.

"The good news is that [Donald P. Bellisario] is working on the film script and has a big time Hollywood producer who wants to do it...It's about time. But what I always thought would happen, happened...[Bakula is now too old for the role]. But [Dean Stockwell] and I will have a part in it somehow. "Don did say that as he was writing, he told me he was having trouble, 'getting you and Dean out of my head.' But I know he will do it."There are two ways to look at it: Although Leap was a moderate success for NBC, lasting four seasons, is it a property substantial enough to mine for movie gold? If that's the only consideration, then probably not. Here's the other side of the coin: Quantum Leap generated tons of spin-offs - novels and the like - and the premise, with some contemporary tweaks, is still an interesting notion to explore as a film. It will obviously look, and I think it would probably not want to be as lighthearted as the series could be at times, but there is definite room in the marketplace for a guy who jumps through time and takes on a new persona with every adventure.

The only reason Quantum Leap is being considered is because JJ Abrams has changed the world.
