New poster for 'Let Me In'

Let Me In, the American remake of Let The Right One In directed by Cloverfield's Matt Reeves, is set to hit theaters on October 1. We won't know for a few weeks if the remake lives up to the original. In the meantime, we have this new poster to whet our appetites.

I can see what they were going for here and I like the general idea, but I just don't think the poster gels as well as it should.

I like the overall concept of the poster. Having Abby make a snow angel is pretty creative. It makes her look innocent while the blood in the corners reminds you how dangerous she really is. It's a solid idea and fits well with the movie's overall theme. I even like the tagline: "Innocence dies. Abby doesn't."

But the execution is lacking. Aesthetically, the poster is incredibly boring. Her pose and facial expression are both stiff, the fonts used don't really pop and the blood is too washed out to stand out against the white background. If you aren't familiar with the film, I doubt this poster is going to catch your eye and make you want to find out more.

Good idea, bad execution. Let's hope that isn't a metaphor for the film itself.
