Leonardo DiCaprio should know by now that Dirty Harry doesn't wait for anyone. That doesn't mean he's going to find a replacement for the role of FBI director, J. Edgar Hoover, for his new film 'Hoover' but he's betting that DiCaprio signs and he's already pegged another actor to play opposite of DiCaprio as Clyde Tolson, the associate FBI director. Contingent upon DiCaprio signing, Eastwood made an offer to someone who recently came back to earth after spending too much time with Diddy, Joaquin Phoenix. Many people believe that what forced Casey Affleck to come clean about his movie, 'I'm Still Here' is because it would jeopardize Joaquin Phoenix's chances to land this role.

Vulture says 'Hoover' written by Dustin Black (Milk Screenwriter) explores two men's complicated relationship and while Tolson and Hoover never admitted to being gay, their relationship was well publicized. In fact, all the way until his death, Hoover threatened anyone who questioned his sexual preference.
Although a film like this is usually a snooze fest in the theaters there's no doubt that the academy awards give credit to actors who can play a gay role. Considering DiCaprio is one of the highest grossing, accomplished actors who've never won an academy award, maybe this is his ticket to winning an Oscar (note: Leo was nominated for 3 Oscars and won 20 other awards in his career.)
