Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 11:08PM Cranked-Up New Poster for 'Let Me In'
The previous posters we've seen for Matt Reeves' Let Me In have felt like teasers to me, leading up to something. We saw one back in July that flirted with an image of blood in the snow, and earlier this month the snow-angel became occupied by Abby (Chloe Moretz). Now, with the film's release only a week away, the marketing seems to be shifting gears.

The new Let Me In poster, found courtesy of JoBlo, continues the creepy feel, but changes the tack quite a bit.
Now we get a scared-looking Kodi Smit-McPhee, his face and hand pressed against a window. Notice the blood on his palm. Nice touch. Not only is it a subtle clue as to the content of the film, it's also calling back to those earlier posters that showed bloodstains in the snow.
What I really like about this poster, though, is the silhouette in the word "ME". Presumably this is Abby (it looks like the character is wearing a dress), but it's not totally clear to me. The silhouette echoes the hands-pressed-to-the-window that we see in the foreground, and again gives the whole thing a fitting and creepy feel.

There's still a snow and ice theme, which helps tie this into the previous marketing material we've seen. The color palette has changed, and is now exclusively washed-out blues. I also like how this poster proudly acknowledges that it's based on 2008's Let the Right One In. This seems to me to be another teaser-type poster; I don't think we've seen the final theatrical one quite yet. But I like what we've seen so far.
