Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 3:18AM The New Boss of Dunder-Mifflin...Harvey Keitel?

According to an article on movieweb.com, tough guy actor Harvey Keitel is rumored to be a possible successor to Steve Carell's character Michael Scott on The Office next season. It's no secret that Carell has decided to leave NBC's most popular sitcom before it heads into the 8th season.
The box office success of movies like 'Date Night' and 'Dinner for Schmucks' have clearly transformed Carell into a Hollywood heavy-weight too big for TV, but that's no surprise.
What's surprising is seeing Keitel's name dropped into the hat as the new lead of the comedy series. I can picture it now, Keitel's character arguing with Dwight Schrute during a meeting with the party planning commitee, "You shoot me in a dream, you better wake up and apologize."
Christopher Walken and Robert DeNiro are proof that actors usually typecast as wise guys can be funny in the right role. Unfortunately, I don't think Keitel has the same ability to make the transition to comedy. He's cast in the upcoming movie 'Little Fockers', so maybe NBC sees potential in him that I don't.
It'll be interesting to see what other names surface in the next few months to replace Carell. I've thought of one already.
Dear NBC, there's someone better suited for the lead role in The Office post-Carell...His name is Ricky Gervais.

good article. good information and style.
I think that ricky gervais has already mentioned not wanting to get involved the series, though.
I love this post because I know it was Will Ferrell that finally received the job. HK would've been funny for about one to two eps though. The problem with Will Farrell for me is he'll never be funnier than Pearl!!!
Rock on Phat Pat... ack ack and all of that. Splash!
