Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 11:06PM Michelle Rodriguez starring in 'Citizen Kane' remake?
Posters for the film began popping up at Fantastic Fest in Texas. The poster for Citizen Jane, which features Rodriguez brandishing a rocket launcher (click the image above to see it), boasts a release date of September 5th, 2011, which would be exactly 70 years from the day Citizen Kane was released in theaters.
Worst Previews did some sleuthing and found a copyright notice on the website which credits "Urban Arson." They point out this is an anagram for Aaron Burns, the writer/director of Blacktino, a film starring Rodriguez, Danny Trejo and Jeff Fahey. Their theory is that Citizen Jane is part of a viral marketing campaign for Blacktino.
According to Worst Previews:
The film revolves around an overweight half-black, half-Hispanic nerd named Stefan Daily who struggles to find his place in a mostly white high school. He eventually finds sanctuary among the eclectic mix of social outcasts in the school's Theater Department. If it turns out to be true, it's a clever move for Blacktino. I've long joked that the day someone dares to remake Citizen Kane will officially be a sign that the end times are upon us. And trust me, as crazy as it sounds, I still believe one day someone will be brave enough to try it, once they officially run out of other ideas. (I've always pictured Brett Ratner directing the remake and Jimmy Fallon staring in it just for good measure.) It's nice to see someone having fun with the concept and it is definitely a great way to garner attention for a low budget film.

I'm sorry, maybe it's my sound processor - What's the punchline?
I think that was "That's right b1tches"
It's "Hi! I'm Michelle Rodriguez and this is my new movie, it's called Citizen Jane. I play the title role of Jane. And I'm gonna annihilate. That's right, bitches." cut short
