Monday, January 10, 2011 at 8:08PM Red Skull Concept Art from 'Captain America' Leaked?
As the new year begins to gain steam, expect to start hearing A LOT about 2011's summer tentpoles. More specifically, this year's superhero flicks. We've already gotten trailers for Thor and Green Lantern, and just yesterday there were reports the X-Men: First Class and Captain America trailers would be heading out soon.
Now today, Mundo reportedly has the first concept art of Hugo Weaving's Red Skull in Captain America. We've seen Weaving's pre-Red Skull transformation in EW's summer preview issue, but this could be the first look at the iconic character is all its glory. I've posted the image after the jump to avoid any spoilers.
Now, if you fancy yourself a regular Sherlock Holmes and noticed there was a question mark in this posting's titled, you're probably wondering why. That's because there hasn't yet been an official confirmation that this really is concept art from the film and not a fan creation. But, I'm posting it here because this Red Skull art seems to come from the same source as the legit concept art of Captain America himself that was released last summer (I've included that art as well so you can see the similarities).
If this is real, I gotta say it looks great and definitely fits into the world director Joe Johnston is trying to create. Hopefully we'll be able to see this guy in action soon as the film's first trailer should be hitting sometime this week...
