Monday, January 17, 2011 at 2:06PM Golden Globe Winners
The 68th annual Golden Globes are wrapped up, and the winners announced. As these include both movie and television categories, I'll post all the winners, but focus my commentary on the movie awards.

Our big contenders for the awards were The King's Speech, The Social Network, and The Fighter. The King's Speech was nominated for 7 awards, and The Social Network and The Fighter each nominated for 6. But this year, I'm torn; looking at the list on nominees, I felt that just about all of them were deserving. Except the nominations for The Tourist. Had they even seen that movie? I mean, come on, the only way it could be nominated for a Best Comedy is due to how laughably *bad* it was. Had to get that off my chest, I do feel better. I'm more fired up about that than I am the True Grit snub.
I do like how The Social Network has effectively cleaned house, winning Best Drama, Director, Screenplay, and Original Score. Great movie, very deserving. I am curious about the Foreign Language Film nominations. Has anyone seen any of these? I've already added them to my foreign film list, I'm just interested in additional commentary for those.
Here's the full list; what do you think? Anything you felt should have won, or was completely left out?

I'm glad to see Christian Bale win the Best Supporting Actor award. He was great in The Fighter.
Why the hell isn't True Grit nominated for anything? That was the best movie I've seen by far this year.
I'm with Patrick. I finally saw True Grit this weekend and was blown away. The Fighter was my favorite movie of the year until seeing True Grit. True Grit should have nominations for Actor(Jeff Bridges), Actress(Hailee Steinfeld) and Best Picture. Could make a case for Matt Damon for Supporting Actor as well. I was surprised not see anything for Shutter Island but its been almost a year since that came out so its probably been forgotten for the most part. Hopefully the Academy will get their nominations right. True Grit should be the big challenger for Social Network for Best Picture. I do like The Fighter for Supporting Actor and Actress, but True Grit for the lead roles.
The Golden Globes were awesome this time around! I was glad to see Natalie Portman pick up the best actress award; she definitely deserves it, especially with Black Swan! I was scared I was going to miss the award show, I almost did too, thank goodness I work with DISH Network, I was able to watch the award show live through my smartphone with their sling adapter and TV Everywhere app. My parents still give me grieve for ignoring my sisters b-day dinner! haha Sad to see Johnny Depp go home empty handed tho, he's my favorite!
