Monday, January 31, 2011 at 12:31PM First Glimpse of 'Dream House'
The last we heard, director Jim Sheridan's upcoming Dream House was getting delayed due to trouble coordinating a reshoot schedule with its cast. That's understandable, considering how busy the primary actors of the film are: Daniel Craig currently has 3 films in post-production, one in production, and one (the new Bond) in pre-production; Rachel Weisz has 3 in post and 2 coming up (not to mention that she's in the process of divorcing Darren Aronofsky); and Naomi Watts has 3 projects recently wrapped, and another 3 on the horizon.
Hmm... That sounds difficult to coordinate, even with MI6 involved.Things seem to be back on track, though, with a re-scheduled release date of September 30 looking like a hittable target, and Universal has now released the first still from the film to give us a glimpse of what it looks like. Check it out below.
What I like about this is that Craig looks a lot different than what we're used to; it's more of a worn-down look, seeming like a role I'd usually expect to go to a Liam Neeson. Weisz looks a bit more motherly than I'm used to, also. Her shirt looks like she's been doing some defendin'-the-fam stuff here.
Dream House has been flying under the radar as of late, but maybe this still being released indicates it's going to start making more of a push to keep itself on the top of our minds between now and September. Here's a synopsis to refresh your memory:
Some say that all houses have memories. For one man, his home is the place he would kill to forget. A family unknowingly moves into a home where several grisly murders were committed...only to find themselves the killer's next target. Successful publisher Will Atenton (Craig) quit a job in New York City to relocate his wife, Libby (Weisz), and two girls to a quaint New England town. But as they settle into their new life, they discover their perfect home was the murder scene of a mother and her children. And the entire city believes it was at the hands of the husband who survived. When Will investigates the tragedy, his only lead comes from Ann Paterson (Watts), a neighbor who was close to the family that died. As Will and Ann piece together the disturbing puzzle, they discover that the story of the last man to leave Will's dream house will be just as horrifying to the one who came next.

Has an official cast order for "Dream House" been officially announced? If not, why "Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz AND Naomi Watts"? Why not in alphabetical order or "Naomi Watts AND....."?
Why should Ms. Watts always be slighted and snubbed and "....AND Naomi Watts" all the times? No wonder she is called the perpetual most under-rated, over-looked and snubbed talented actress in Hollywood, thanks to you people.
Rachel Weisz is back on the market? Excellent, time to hit the gym!
steandric: well, Craig and Weisz are the couple who move into the house, and Watts is the neighbor they meet. I don't know about an "official cast order," but it seems pretty clear that her role isn't as prominent as the other two. It's their story.
I agree with you that she's a great actress, but in this case she's not the leading role, from what I know. That's why they were listed in that order.
But you must think that as the plot says, Watts helps Craig solveing the crime, so in that pint of view, I think Naomi's role is more important than Rachel's.
