Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 5:15PM Marvel's Future Film Projects Post-'Avengers'
"Guardians of the Galaxy" one of Marvel's future moviesWe all know Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 will be heading to movie theaters, after Marvel introduces The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance blockbuster movies next year. Now we have updates regarding a few more titles the comic book inspired production company has in the works that moviegoers may not recognize.
Reports are Marvel is still planning an Ant-Man feature film, which director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) recently turned in a revised script for. He'll be teaming with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) on this project. Only the involvement of Wright and Cornish could get me interested in an Ant-Man movie.
The next adaptation is of an old comic book super team called Guardians of the Galaxy (1969) that was rebooted in 2008. The Guardians are a diverse group of interstellar warriors who represent the last of his or her kind and protect the galaxy. A large scale space blockbuster is something Marvel should excel at bringing to the big screen.
The final movie project is based on the comic Inhumans, which are an advanced race of beings who were created in an experiment performed on humans by aliens called the Kree. The Kree intended to create these super soldiers for themselves to battle the Skrulls, but the experiment subjects are eventually abandoned to their own kingdom.
Guardians of the Galaxy and Inhumans are slated to be ensemble cast films, similar to the X-Men and Avengers.
None of these movie ideas sound all that outstanding to me for super hero films, other than the potential of Ant-Man. These brief descriptions only give me so much info, plus I'm completely unfamiliar with the comics themselves.

Personally, I think an Inhumans movie would do well. Black Bolt has always been one of my favorite Marvel characters and I've long thought it would be awesome to see him in a movie. I'm not terribly familiar with the Guardians of the Galaxy myself, but they do have an anthropomorphic raccoon in their line up, so I can definitely see younger children being into that.
I think both of these will do well. The stories for the non-earth Marvel comics has been getting a lot better lately, and they could be looking to do movies without interfering with the Avengers/Spider-Man/X0men world they've got going on.
