Jim Carrey and a comedy about magicians seem like a match made in heaven (10+years ago). Throw in Steve Carell and poof...Things could really get funny in a hurry. Word is Carrey is in negotiations to join the comedy Burt Wonderstone, presumably as a co-star to Carell.
The story centers around a Las Vegas magician, Burt Wonderstone (Carell) who breaks up with his long time stage partner to take his act solo. The jaded magician must force himself to once again rise to greatness when a hip, new street magician comes to Sin City and quickly steals his thunder.
The role the studio has in mind for Carrey is unspecified. If I had to go out on a limb, I'd say Carrey will be playing the disgruntled stage partner as opposed to the rival magician. Time will tell.
It's been ages since Carrey was involved in a solid comedy. His last good movie was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, where as his last semi-good comedy was Me, Myself & Irene in my estimation. He's clearly long overdue to shine in a comedic role again.
