Chris Pine and Tom Hardy in McG's 'This Means War'

This Means War is a spy vs. spy action/romcom tagged as a film about Two CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they both fall in love with the same woman.

This is the first I'm hearing of this potential instant-classic from the brilliant McG.  He has been producing quality entertainment since the debut of his 2002 creation Fastlane.  It was not my favorite show of all-time, but I did watch it, just because who doesn't want to watch T.A. Thiessen boss people around. 

It wasn't until the television series Chuck, a comedy about a reluctant spy, that he had me hooked as a fan.  Then came Terminator Salvation, which people ripped on, but for my money it was exactly what I wanted to see.  The final moments of Terminator 3 when the war starts was one of my favorite moments in movie entertainment, knowing the war finally started, and that if they do go on with the series we are finally going to see what we all imagined back in 1984.  I thought he delivered.

The writers of This Means War also have some pretty good titles between them.  Timothy Dowling is responsible for Role Models bringing comedy to the table, and Simon Kinberg, who wrote both Mr. and Mrs. Smith and xXx: State of the Union, among others, can write some pretty good spy action.

Chris Pine and Tom Hardy, two names that are well on their way to being household, if they are not already play the two agents engaged in the epic battle.  Pine was amazing in the first two roles I can think of off the top of my head without resorting to IMDb for a complete list, which are Capt. James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams' reboot of Star Trek, and as Darwin Tremor in Smokin' Aces.  As for Hardy, I'm ashamed to say that I don't recall him from anything,  but I've seen a lot of his films though.  I will keep an eye out now, because apparently he's something of a big deal.  If Patrick Wilson weren't already in everything I'd think Hardy was.

And the love interest in this little romcom is Reese Witherspoon, and I imagine she will be cute and adorable, the question is if she is also going to be an agent and have to try to pull off being an action star as well.  A question that is probably answered in the trailer, which for those of you that want to know, check it out.
