The famous toy company Hasbro which created the greatest action figures ever (G.I. Joe) is now teaming with Paramount and producer J.J. Abrams (Bad Robot) to bring a Micronauts themed movie to the big screen soon. The project is developing so fast! The studio recently hired Zombieland writing duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to pen the script for this Micronauts film adaptation, Deadline reported.
This isn't the first time Reese and Wernick have been hired to transform a series of toys and comics into a feature film. The two wrote the sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (G.I. Joe 2: Cobra Retaliation), starring Bruce Willis and The Rock that is in production now, and the Deadpool spin-off which Ryan Reynolds is expected to headline. They'll also work on a film version of the graphic novel Cowboy Ninja Viking for Disney.
I'm not real familiar with the Micronauts, but am aware the toy line inspired the comic books and also know they're a microscopic team of super heroes in deep space. This is the perfect kind of premise for Abrams to get behind, as well as have Reese and Wernick write a kick ass script for.
