Radcliffe Conjures Up Chills In ‘The Woman In Black’

Daniel Radcliffe is a long way from Hogwarts in the upcoming supernatural thriller, The Woman In Black. Radcliffe plays young solicitor, Arthur Kipps, who must travel to an isolated village to settle a deceased client’s affairs.  Bad things happen soon after a woman in black appears in an upper window of the uber-creepy mansion.  The young man must endure a series of mysterious happenings and the obligatory scary things-that-go-bump in the night as the truth slowly emerges as to the reason this particular spirit is so vengeful.

 

I don’t find trailers narrated by little children scary, particularly those of children with English accents.  I do think that antique clown and monkey toys are very scary.  Now if only they provided the narration, that would have raised some hairs.  Anyway, this will be Mr. Radcliffe’s first significant film role since the Harry Potter franchise wrapped and we’ll see what kind of actor he is without a wand in his hand.  Janet McTeer co-stars in this CBS Films release slated to open February 3.  James Watkins provided the direction to the Jane Goldman adapted screenplay.
