Monday, October 24, 2011 at 9:42PM Jason Sudeikis in For 'Dog Fight' With Ferrell & Galifianakis
SNL stand out Jason Sudeikis is scooping up big screen comedies to appear in left and right, and if you haven't seen Horrible Bosses yet...get on it. Sudeikis has another promising role lined up in the political comedy Dog Fight, starring Will Ferrell (funniest man in movies) and Zach Galifianakis as two warring political rivals up for the same small South Carolina congressional chair.
The Jay Roach (Meet the Parents, Austin Powers) film recently added actresses Katherine LaNasa and Sarah Baker for, like Sudeikis, unspecified roles. I'm excited about the script that comes from writers Chris Henchy (The Other Guys, Land of the Lost) and Shawn Harwell (Eastbound and Down), plus all the funny folks in charge of performing from its pages.
Ferrell in particular played a very funny role of a southern gentleman in the first season of Eastbound and Down, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him kind of take on a personality similar to that character here in Dog Fight.
I also think this could be the perfect comedy for Galifianakis to make sort of a comeback in. Other than his bit roles in Between Two Ferns and as Super Ray in HBO's Bored to Death, I don't think I've seen the pudgy comedian in a movie I enjoyed since the first Hangover. This guy is due for a rebound, and what better way to do that than starring alongside Will Ferrell.
The trio of Ferrell, Galifianakis and Sudeikis on the same screen could be comedy gold.
Shooting on Dog Fight will start next month, and they're aiming for an August 10, 2012 release. I'm definitely jotting this comedy down on my list of summer movies to see.
