Brad Pitt is back in the news again and once more he has attached himself to a critically acclaimed true story.
Brad Pitt’s production company, Plan B, was already producing, and now Brad himself has agreed to appear in the movie as well. Mr. Pitt usually chooses his roles well, and in joining Michael Fassbender and Chiwetel Ejiofor in the film adaptation of Solomon Northrup’s stunning autobiography, it appears he has grabbed another winner. If you give any credence to the early-buzz-folks, then put this on your 2013 awards list.
Chiwetel will portray Solomon Northrup, a free black man who was lured to Washington, D.C . by Merrill Brown and Abram Hamilton in 1851. Once there, he was drugged, beaten, sold as a slave and shipped to Louisiana where he toiled in slavery for twelve years before being set free in 1863.
The other roles haven’t been announced yet and pure speculation would suggest that Pitt and Fassbender would play the kidnappers. We do know that red-hot Steve McQueen will direct from John Ridley’s adapted script.
River Road Entertainment will co-produce.
