Scorsese Interested in The Snowman

Hollywood’s newest obsession for all things Scandinavian continues as legendary director, Martin Scorsese appears to be interested in bringing The Snowman to the big screen.  "The Snowman" was written by Norwegian author, Jo Nesbo, and it is actually the seventh entry of the Harry Hole crime series.

Scorsese is in the final finishing stages of Hugo and although he has been linked to several other high-profile projects (The Gambler, The Comedian, The Irishman, etc.) he “is now seriously considering helming the project."

The Snowman follows tough police detective Harry Hole whose use of unorthodox methods to solve crimes probably fits his surname rather well.  In this novel, a serial killer preys on married women the day of the first snowfall.  The killer’s calling card appears to be the freshly created snowman found at each crime scene.  

Variety also reported that Working Title has secured the rights and that World War Z scribe, Matthew Michael Carnahan is in talks to write the adaptation.

If this film generates the same buzz as Stieg Larsson’s Girl Trilogy, then we can probably expect to see a lot more from Harry Hole.
