Coen Brothers Want Justin Timberlake for 'Inside Llewyn Davis'

Justin Timberlake as a folk singer? Coens think so...The Coen Brothers scooped up Drive stars Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan as the leads for their next film Inside Llewyn Davis.  Now the Oscar-winning siblings are eyeing a more musically inclined actor to bring on board the 60's folk music inspired film.  Justin Timberlake's new movie In Time (check out our review here) maybe getting universally dogged by critics, but that hasn't swayed the Coens from wanting him as part of the cast.

The film will focus on the folk music scene in Greenwich Village during the 1960's, and is loosely based on the influence that local musician Dave Van Ronk had on the movement.  The Coens wrote the script using some of the material from Van Ronk's memoir titled "The Mayor of MacDougal Street."  He was considered a key figure in this folk revival and was friends with legendary singer song writers like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell.   

The Van Ronk character in this case will be Llewyn Davis in the film, the role slated for Oscar Isaac, while they have another musician in mind for Timberlake to play, Jim.  Mulligan will play Jean, Jim's better half.  Unfortunately, that's all the info I have on the part right now, and it's unknown whether Timberlake is interested in the role or not.

If Timberlake wants to take this acting thing seriously, and by all accounts he seems to, then he'll probably jump at the chance to work with the Coens.  The guy has shown he has the ability to act with solid past performances, though headlining a Coen Brothers production would surely launch him to super stardom.
