Have you been patiently awaiting news on when the powers-that-be would finally announce that production had started? Would you scan the news sites and gnash your teeth whenever you read about the latest setback. If this applies to you then I feel compelled to warn you to skip the rest of this article or risk looking like a rabid dog attacking an invisible bone.
Director Craig Gillespie has decided to follow in the footsteps of Mike White and David O. Russell in exiting the high-profile yet, severely damaged project. Deadline New York reported that while the split with Lionsgate was considered amicable, it appears that casting disagreements were the root cause for Craig’s departure.
Seth Grahame-Smith’s strange revisionist’s take of the Jane Austen classic, "Pride and Prejudice" novel seemed to be on the fast track, but with the departure of three high-profile directors and having A-listers such as Natalie Portman, Emma Stone and Blake Lively turn down the lead role of Elizabeth Bennett, the film could quickly become as dead as the novel’s subjects.
I can’t say I blame any of them as I always thought that the success of the novel was solely attributed to it’s bizarre premise and that most people would quickly move on to the next shiny object they saw.
