Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 7:07AM Warner Bros. Grabs 'Satori', Wants Leo to Star
Warner Bros. has acquired many projects as of late, and today snatched up one more with the script for Satori based off of the novel by Don Winslow. Only there's one caveat to this deal, the studio took the film specifically for Mr. Big a.k.a Leonardo DiCaprio to star in it, according to Deadline.
If Leo signs on, he'll play a man raised by a martial arts expert in Japan, who's caught up in some post-WWII drama. Word is Warners views Satori as a possible "Jason Bourne-type action franchise." A spy film with martial arts and visiting exotic locations sounds like a winning recipe for the studio and for Leo, should he choose to join.
Another Don Winslow novel is currently in film adaptation mode with Oliver Stone directing Savages.
Leo has a lot going on right now. He just wrapped up J. Edgar for Clint Eastwood (a performance I'm predicting he'll win Best Actor for), and is shooting The Great Gatsby now. Tarantino's Django Unchained will cap off the trio of movies.
I hope he finds the time and has the desire to make Satori. An ordinary script like that always sounds ten times better as a vehicle for Leo.
