James Bond's 23rd adventure could finally have its official title and it ain't Carte Blanche, as previously reported. Word is, according to Collider the new title is believed to be Skyfall, which has been showing up on some of Sony's registered URLs (skyfall-themovie.net, jamesbond-skyfall.com).
Carte Blanche made sense as a possible title, considering that's the title of the most recent Bond novel for which this next movie is allegedly based upon. Whatever title the 007 film ultimately takes, it's not what is going to make the movie good or bad. The first two Bond installments starring Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace) were exceptional, and I expect his third film will be just as good if not better.
It's not a great title, but neither were Octopussy and Goldfinger (titles better suited for porno films), and they were still entertaining.
Director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition) will helm the movie that includes a stellar cast beyond Craig this time in Ralph Fiennes, Javier Bardem and Judi Dench. Filming is taking place in India and Istanbul, and Skyfall is scheduled to be released on November 9, 2012.

I thought Goldfinger was a great title for a great Bond film. It made sense to name the movie after the villain (a la Dr. No), and the villain's love for gold made Goldfinger an appropriate name for him. I'm not feeling Skyfall right now, if indeed that is the name, but that could change. I agree, though, that the name will not determine whether or not the film is good. Here's hoping that it is as good as Casino Royale, and at least better than Quantum of Solace.
