Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 10:06AM Another Mark Millar Comic Becomes a Matthew Vaughn Movie?
I figured all hope was lost when it didn't look like Matthew Vaughn would reconnect with Kick-Ass comic book writer Mark Millar for a sequel. My hope is now slightly restored with news that Vaughn has purchased the film rights to another one of Millar's comics, Superior, a press release from Comic Book Movie revealed.
The comic is considered by some as a combination of Last Action Hero, Big and Superman. The series is about a young boy with multiple scelrosis who dreams of becoming his favorite movie superhero. When the young boy's wish is granted he decides not to limit his abilities to just stopping crime, but to also prevent problems like world hunger, wars and those affected by natural disasters. But with great power comes the consequences of those actions.
Mad Men's Jon Hamm was apparently rumored for the role of Superior a year ago, and I must admit he'd be cool as hell playing a superhero like this.
It's probably safe to assume with this update that Vaughn won't helm a Kick-Ass sequel, if one is ever in development. Superior sounds pretty damn cool, and I was really impressed with where the director took X-Men: First Class.
