Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 8:25PM Must See Zombie Film Of The Year

On 20 October the Toronto After Dark film festival gets underway. The lineup looks to be quite fun, but as I watched the trailers two of them stuck out like sore thumbs: Some Guy Who Kills People and the world premiere of War of the Dead.
Some Guy Who Kills People is a dark comedy starring the far too underrated Kevin Corrigan as a down trodden man that has been pushed one too many times and decides to take matters into his own hands with what looks like a variety of edged weapons. The only combination better than action and violence is comedy and violence and with Corrigan leading this pic it is sure to deliver. Another bonus I saw while viewing the trailer was Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Reaper). Both of these two know how to deliver a line, so watching them on the same screen at the same time is sure to be worth the price of admission.
The film that caught my eye though is War of the Dead. It looks amazing, if you're into WWII action movies about secret missions that go awry leaving a group of soldiers in the middle of a forest, cutoff from the rest of the world, having to defend themselves against an onslaught of zombies. If that isn't your thing then you may want to pass. Check out the trailer and decide for yourself.

I recognized its social value.
I saw its ordered happiness,
but a fever in my blood asked for a wilder course.
There seemed to me something alarming in such easy delights.
