Fairy tales and their numerous retellings are always popular so it is no surprise that not one, but two fairy tale movies relating to the legend of Snow White will release in 2012.
Snow White and the Huntsman is directed by Rupert Sanders with Twilight superstar Kristen Stewart playing the role of the fairest of them all, Snow White, and superhero Thor star Chris Hemsworth playing the Huntsman. Charlize Theron plays the evil Queen wanting to destroy Snow White and Sam Clafin plays the Prince.
The plot of the story is classic Snow White, but the trailer reveals what is sure to turn out to be a epic, dark fantasy tale despite Stewart's stiff acting:
In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Snow White is the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman who was dispatched to kill her.
From that trailer I see a rich fantasy world surrounded in mythos and run by a tyrannical, evil queen hellbent on getting what she wants no matter what. Not to mention what appears to be amazing battles on horseback and foot. I guess we will have to wait and see if this tale lives up to the trailer.
