The Mechanic Part II?
Jason Statham is a typecast action star, and he completely embraces it. The end results are generally super explosive fight flicks, where the tough Brit always produces a high body count with his bare hands. His next film Safe is more of the same, though it adds an interesting aspect seldom seen in the typical Statham action vehicle: protecting a little girl. Put her to the side somewhere "safe", and it becomes the familiar Statham battle formula that never fails.
Here's the IMDB synopsis of Safe: A former elite agent takes on a two-tier mission: rescue a Chinese girl who's been abducted by the Triads, then use a safe combination to outwit the Russian Mafia, corrupt NYC officials, and the Triads themselves.
The story here doesn't matter much, as again its a bunch of international baddies vs Statham where the winner(s) gets to continue breathing. When he stops making solid action movies, we'll stop paying to see them. Killer Elite, Blitz and The Mechanic were awesome, so based on these previous hits I'll have to give Safe a go as well.
Safe was written and directed by Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans) and will be be in theaters on March 2, 2012.
