I've always been a sucker for a good father and son drama, and the new film Being Flynn starring Robert De Niro and Paul Dano fits the bill. This possible tear jerker comes from writer/director Paul Weitz, who made another film I really enjoyed years ago called About a Boy.
Being Flynn is based on the memoirs of writer Nick Flynn, and tells the story of a young man (Dano) who just happens to come across his estranged father (De Niro) a few times, while working in various homeless shelters in Boston. The only common bond the father and son share is the fact that are both writers, which compels the young man to tell his father's story.
Looks like De Niro delivers a masterful performance in this one, and Dano, who I've never been much of fan of, could be exceptional as well. Julianne Moore co-stars as the ex-wife and mother.
Sadly, Being Flynn has no official release date other than 2012.
