But New Line told The Hollywood Reporter is now planning on releasing an modern day adaptation of Rampage, a series of video games that is every bit as generic and unremarkable as it sounds. The series started in the arcades back in 1986, and have continued on various consoles until 2006's Rampage: Total Destruction.
Being a lifelong gamer myself, it pains me to see how horrible the medium has been represented in film. When the best adaptations are Silent Hill and Prince of Persia, you know that there's plenty of fail to go around. But what makes it suck even more is that it doesn't have to be that way. There have been plenty of good games that could work well. Rampage isn't one of them. Here is the synopsis of the first game, thanks to Moby Games:
George, Lizzy and Ralph were just ordinary Americans, until an experiment went wrong, turning them into a Gorilla, Lizard and Werewolf respectively. Following this, the three of them plan to go round destroying buildings, and up to three human players can join in.
