When I first heard about a 21 Jump Street movie I must admit I thought it sounded like a terrible idea. The original TV series (1987-90) starred Johnny Depp before Edward Scissorhands launched him to A-list actor status, and was about a young looking police force who would go undercover in high schools to solve crimes.
The 21 Jump Street movie has the same theme, except with stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum involved it's clearly steered more towards a comedy this time around.
We have the first red band trailer below, and it actually looks surprisingly funny throughout. I don't know if Hill and Tatum could pass as high school students, considering one teenager points out about Tatum looking "40" in the trailer. Since it's a fun-filled comedy will let that little hang up slide this time.
Some of the more amusing parts in the trailer are when the two compare how they looked in high school to the style trends of the kids today. The trailer also features a Beastie Boys song, which is another way to appeal to a harsh critic like myself. But, I don't want to give away too much.
21 Jump Street comes to theaters this spring, March 16, 2012. Enjoy the red band trailer.

Me too. I laughed a lot more the second time I watched the trailer.
It's sad that I have to wait for 4 more months before this movie opens in theaters. The trailer itself give me more reason to mark the date, March 16, 2012 on my calendar.
The guy has been raking in mucho movie roles since his final days at Dundler-Mifflin, and this latest action-comedy he's signed on to should show us another side to this blossoming acto
Whatever happened to the stories worth telling through the medium of film? I'm surprised that the so many of you are actually anticipating a film that seems to have nothing else to offer than some lame ass slapstick and a few forced laughs. I'm really beginning to empathise with Stan from South Park with his beginning of the teens crisis!
