Admit it, when you saw that title, this is the first person you thought of.
We all have our share of hated actors/actresses we all wish weren't getting rich off of irritating us in movies. Martin Lawrence, for example, is my personal choice for someone who has never been talented or funny. In anything. Ever. But Forbes has now released a list of actors calculated to be paid too much for what little box office they draw. Here's the list, all next to the amount of money their film's since 2006 have made for every dollar that they worked for:
1. Drew Barrymore: $0.40
2. Eddie Murphy: $2.70
3. Will Ferrell: $3.50
4. Reese Witherspoon: $3.55
5. Denzel Washington: $4.25
6. Nicolas Cage: $4.40
7. Adam Sandler: $5.20
8. Vince Vaughn: $5.20
9. Tom Cruise: $6.35
10. Nicole Kidman: $6.70
The top four on that list are certainly no surprise. Drew Barrymore's recent career output is so unmemorable I can't even remember it after looking her up on imdb about ten seconds ago. Eddie Murphy's last films, with the only partial exception of the Shrek series, have been absolutely rank. Will Ferrel's career has never really recovered from 2008's box office bomb Land of the Lost. While Reese Witherspoon's Water for Elephants made quite a bit (probably due to it co-starring Robert Pattinson), she was also a part of 2010's How Do You Know, a 110 million dollar romantic comedy. A romantic comedy that cost more to make Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I think someone at the studio was asleep when they budgeted that one.
As you get farther down the list, it might not seem like "overpaid" is the right word. Getting seven dollars back for ever dollar you pay may not seem like a bad deal, but when you think about how many other people that seven dollars has to be divided among, it starts to look pretty sparse. Of course, these are the kinds of salaries that the studios are willing to pay, and they certainly aren't asking us for advice.

Land of the Lost was surprisingly funny. And in Drew Scarymore's defense Whip It, which she also directed, was a pretty good movie.
Never saw Land of the Lost, mostly because I was getting tired of Will Ferrell about that point. But Drew Barrymore did impress me with Whip It as well.
