As the picture above shows us, Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro have been reunited by David O. Russell (The Fighter) to star in The Silver Linings Playbook. With an estimated budget of 26 million, the comedy based on the best-selling novel by Matthew Quick is currently scheduled for a 2013 release. The all star cast also features Jennifer Lawrence (Winter’s Bone, X-Men: First Class), Julia Stiles (The Bourne Ultimatum, 10 Things I Hate About You), and Chris Tucker (Rush Hour, The Fifth Element).
The comedy follows the life of Pat Peoples (Cooper) who has adopted the philosophy of seeing the “silver lining” in life’s dark clouds. I’m guessing it was that sunny attitude that finally got him released from the state mental institution he called home for four years. The former high school teacher’s “visit” followed his wife’s decision to leave him for another man.
Embarking on his new approach to life, Pat moves back in with his parents and tries to become the man his wife obviously wanted him to be, but life is a long and winding road for Pat. One day he meets Tiffany (Lawrence), a beautiful young woman who is dealing with her own frustrations about life’s crooked journey.
Together they try to navigate through their lives in a quest to find the happiness that has eluded them so far. In the process they develop a unique friendship that ultimately leads them to discover that what they’ve been searching for may have been right in front of them all along.
