You know those films that overcrowd their posters with moments and/or people in their films? The one's that make you feel like you're sufferign from claustrophobia or watching a cheesy 80s horror movie? Or even thje poster for Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds? Well the latest and newest poster for Roman Polanski's Carnage is exactly NOT crowded and overstuffed, it's simple and wonderful.
I think there's a time when studios marketing their films will learn that you put what's necessary on the poster, what's intriguing and forget about establishing gluttony. (Michael Bay, you're films are especially guilty of this.) Therefore, even Entertainment Weekly made the most valid point of them all:
"Despite Kate Winslet’s fiery, braless feats of heroism in real life, there will be no Dragon Tattoo-esque poster for her upcoming film Carnage. That said, the one-sheet is intent on showing off the film’s assets: The greatest assembly of Oscar-caliber actors of 2011′s holiday season. Only three Oscar winners on your team, J. Edgar? Suck it. Just two for you,Iron Lady? Too bad, so sad. Carnage has four Oscar winners in Kate Winstlet, Jodie Foster, Christoph Waltz, and director Roman Polanski — not to mention 2003 nominee John C. Reilly. To quote another Broadway show-turned-film, “If you got it, flaunt it.”
