Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) has a very curious decision to make regarding his splashy big screen version of Les Miserables. His production already enlists such huge A-List talent as; Hugh Jackman (X-Men), Helena Bonham Carter (The King's Speech), Geoffrey Rush (The King's Speech), Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada), Russell Crowe (Gladiator), and Eddie Redmayne (My Week with Marilyn), but now choose between four very unique and qualified ladies to fill the role of Eponine.
According to The New York Post - Taylor Swift (Valentine's Day), Lea Michele (Glee), Scarlett Johansson (We Bought a Zoo), and Evan Rachel Wood (The Ides of March) have each recently auditioned for the coveted role.
With a posted release date of December 2012, it appears that we should hear something definitive in the coming days.
Michele may have the inside track with her built-in Broadway experience (she played the Young Cosette as a child), but the producers may look to expand their film’s reach beyond the fabulous musical crowd. Johansson brings additional star quality, Wood her Indie fans and Swift the entire Country Music world.
Whatever choice they make will certainly draw flak from the other’s camps, but as the saying goes; “That’s Show Business!”

Evan Rachel Wood would be my choice for acting chops, but neither she or Scarlett can sing. I like Scarlett just fine, but for the roll of Eponine I have to say hell no. Lea is the only one of the bunch with actual Broadway cred (Spring Awakening), but watching her fake being humble and reserved for 2 1/2 hours is just going to piss me off. I have to go with Taylor if these are the only 4 options (there are probably quite a few more that we don't know about). Taylor has the right timbre and range in her voice, and Tom Hooper might be able to help her find new depth in her acting.
If I was a betting man I would pick Michele for the win, Swift to place and Johansson to show.
