Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 11:17AM 'Amazing Spider-Man' Website Launches, Reveals Key Info

I've been pretty hard on The Amazing Spider-Man at times, mocking everything from it's basic conception to it's poster's tagline (though I conceded the poster itself was pretty awesome). But, as flawed as I think that the project is, the people behind the curtain seem to be really going out of their way to please fans and make the reboot seem worthwhile. The most recent example of this is the official website, which reveals much more inside information then most do at launch.
We get more hints about Peter Parker's past, and learn that his parents are going to play a big role in what "shapes his destiny as Spider-Man". I'm not sure if that means that what they do helps him turn into Spider-Man, or just gives him something to do after he gets super powers, but either way it seems to to be trying to bring more cohesion to the origin story. I always thought it was a tad strange when, in the original, Peter Parker just happens to get his super powers around the same time frame that Norman Osbourne becomes the Green Goblin.
As for other reveals, we find out that Captain Stacy, Gwen Stacy's policeman father is going to play a big part as well, being given a character bio alongside Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy and Dr. Curt Conners. Add a fair share of hi-quality pictures, and we have one fine start for an official website. Check it all out at http://theamazingspiderman.com.
