'Jack the Giant Killer' Trailer & Poster Arrive

Before former X-Men director Bryan Singer brings Battlestar Galactica to the big screen, he'll reintroduce the movie world to the fairy tale "Jack and the Bean Stalk", sort of.  Singer's next film Jack the Giant Killer starring Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci and Ewan McGregor released its first trailer and poster today.  

Hoult (X-Men: First Class, About a Boy) plays Jack in this dark, modern fantasy tale, a young farmer who must break the long time truce between men and giants in order to rescue a kidnapped princess from atop a massive bean stalk.  Of course, these giants are also out to claim our world as their own too.

Singer's track record of films has been less than spectacular as of late, pretty much ever since he handed the X-Men franchise over to Brett Ratner to butcher, while he took on Superman Returns (not much better than X-Men: The Last Stand).  And then there was Valkyrie...

Here's hoping the same director that helmed two great X-Men films and The Usual Suspects was behind the camera for Jack the Giant Killer and more importantly the Battlestar Galactica movie.  The trailer is just okay.  I feel like I need to see more to be convinced this movie will be worthwhile.

Jack the Giant Killer arrives in theaters this summer on June 15, 2012.
