Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:09PM More Bond for Daniel Craig?

This doesn't come as much of a suprise, but the Brit actor is being touted as a possible record-holder for most appearances as Bond in the ongoing franchise. Daniel Craig is certainly going to be picking up discussions as to whether or not to continue for 5 more films with the franchise, once production completes on the third outing: Skyfall, directed by Sam Mendes.
Hoping to surpass Roger Moore's seven appearances, producer Michael G. Wilson is hoping Craig will enlist for more action packed spy games as James Bond:
"Daniel’s been a terrific Bond, a superb actor and a terrific man. The fans love him and I don’t think there’s a better actor to play the part...Filming has gone very well so far and I’d love Daniel to surpass Roger’s record and do eight pictures. Daniel’s been an absolute pleasure to be around because he takes the role so seriously. There’s really no one more passionate about making these films work than him – he’s a film maker’s dream."
There's no doubt that many moviegoers today are fans of Craig, because of his charisma with high octane action sequences that aren't filled with high tech gadgets, but based on pure hand-to-hand combat.
There's report that "any future appearances would each earn Craig more than the £8million he is reportedly being paid for Skyfall."
Considering Casino Royale, Craig debut as Bond, too in over "£300million at the box office to become the most profitable 007 film in history." That's roughly over $450 million US, a very healthy cume for a big-budget film. Let's not forget Quantum of Solace, even though it was more of a critical dud than a box-office one.
As for Skyfall, Wilson stated: "The director Sam Mendes and Daniel are taking it back to a 60s feel – more Sean. I think that’s what the fans wanted. There’s a magical Goldfinger feel surrounding it all. It’s all very exciting. I can’t wait for people to see the movie because I think we’re making a very special Bond."
Skyfall is directed by Sam Mendes. Starring Daniel Craig, Helen McCrory, Javier Bardem and Ralph Fiennes. The film is set for a wide release 9 Novemebr 2012.

It may help that "Cowboys and Aliens", "House of Dreams" and quite frankly most of what he's done outside of Bond hasn't done that well. So perhaps it's apt that the does indeed stick with what's working best for as long as he can.
