Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 11:14AM New Trailer for ‘Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance’

You can tell when it’s a slow news day here at Get the Big Picture when we report the latest dreck that is Nicholas Cage’s (Drive Angry) plummeting career. Today we have been graced with the release of the updated trailer for Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance. Once again Cage portrays Johnny Blaze, the devil’s bounty hunter on earth, who this time is hiding out in a remote part of Eastern Europe when he is recruited by a secret sect of the church.
The film is co-directed by the team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor (Crank). It is interesting that writing credits go to a group of small-screen scribes; Scott M. Gimple (The Walking Dead), Seth Hoffman (Prison Break) and David S. Goyer (Flash Forward). The film co-stars Idris Elba (Thor) and Ciaran Hindis (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). It’s scheduled to open on February 17.
The only part of the trailer that appealed to me was the fire vomit. Other than that, it's pretty painful to watch. Only die hard fan boys will care enough to go to the theaters to see this, and the fact that they made it in 3D only goes to show how desperate the studios are to recoup the estimated $75 million in production costs they shelled out.
I would describe the synopsis for the trailer and film, but why bother?
Marvel Comics and Ari Arad should go take a long look in the mirror and decide what path they want to go down - put all their efforts into their cream of the crop titles (Spiderman, Iron Man, etc.) or tarnish their image with the likes of this and other crap franchises (i.e. The Punisher, Daredevil)? To quote the legendary Stan Lee – ‘nuff said.
