Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 2:16PM Trailer to 'Alie-' - I mean 'Prometheus'

I was never a fan of the Alien series growing up; I was more of a Predator fan. I could appreciate a great horror film but it couldn't grab me the way Schwarzenegger and Weathers could. So you can tell that my excitement for Prometheus was a 'meh.' I wasn't on the bandwagon like everyone else who writes on this site, even when the first posters and set photos were released. "Big deal", I said, "who cares for a prequel to Alien when there's a huge chance it's going to suck."
My feelings have changed after watching the first official trailer. I shall say no more, just watch the damn trailer.
I was recently discussing with a friend about the best trailers ever and Alien had entered the conversation. Seems as Fox Searchlight knows exactly that and has essentially remade it for Prometheus. In terms of remakes, I welcome this with open arms. Now to the trailer. Nostalgia hit me harder than Lindsay Lohan hitting rock-bottom. It honestly amazed me to the point where I had to lift my jaw from the ground. I'm now intrigued to find out what exactly are they looking for. Maybe I'll give the Alien series a second chance now.
Prometheus is set to open June 8th, 2012 and stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Logan Marshall-Green, Idris Elba, and Patrick Wilson and is directed by Ridley Scott.

Awesome! Totally disagree with you on the Alien franchise though. The Alien movies succeeded at combining horror and science fiction across three great movies. The original Predator was exceptional, but they didn't release another good one until Predators in my opinion.
I guess it was a whole new approach to alien movie genre. Pretty interesting! I'll give it a 4. -Sarah-
Out of all the big summer movie trailers, this one go my heart pumping.
As for your feeling regarding the alien franchise? The first two films are the only ones worth watching, with the second being the best of the two. Bill Paxton had an awesome performance.
HAHAHA!!! You cannot resist the power of the almight Ridley Scott!!! HAHA!!! Man, no one makes science fiction films as well as this guy does!!! NO ONE!! Prometheus is going to ROCK!! And it comes out on my birthday! What a HECK of a birthday present, huh? :-) CANNOT WAIT!!!
In the early concepts for the original "Alien" there was a lot more exploration of "Acheron", the planet the "xenomorph" is found on. It looks as is they're digging into these early ideas once again and I'm even wondering if maybe the basic story is somewhat like H.P. Lovecraft's "In the Mountains of Madness". After, and including, the fourth movie in the series the whole franchise just got completely frigged-up, into dunderheaded, comic book, geekfest stupidity, so I see this whole thing as Ridley Scott's chance at taking the whole idea back and rejuvinating it, making it into the higher-caliber horror movies the first three were. I see this movie as the more GENUINE "Alien Resurrection".
