J.J. Abrams Dismisses Khan in 'Star Trek' Sequel Rumors

Khaaaan!?

Maybe Benicio Del Toro shows up in the sequel to the Star Trek reboot, but not as Khan.  Don't believe me?  Hitflix spoke to director J.J. Abrams to check the validity on the Wrath of Khan rumor, and Abrams simply said, "not true."  So, we'll have to wait and see who the next Captain Kirk hater will be, though it's still possible Benicio signs up for the gig.  No official negotiations have begun yet, to my knowledge. 

As much as I'd both love and hate the idea of a Khan-style remake, I like the new/unique approach Abrams, Damon Lindleof, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have taken the franchise.  They seem to play by their own rules, similar to what Christopher Nolan did with Batman.  

Plus, they recently brought the super sexy Alice Eve into the fold.  The addition of Benicio to the sequel in any context would be the icing on the cake as far as I'm concerned.  

Now we'll play the waiting game, in terms of who or what will be the next truth or rumor involved in the Star Trek sequel.  Abrams proved to have a solid poker face before Super 8 came out last summer, revealing very little story wise before the movie debuted.  I suspect fans, like myself will experience much of the same with regards to Star Trek.
