We want to thank 20th Century Fox for releasing the first photos from the upcoming Neighborhood Watch sci-fi film, starring Ben Stiller (Tower Heist), Vince Vaughn (The Dilemma), Jonah Hill (The Sitter), Billy Crudup (Eat Pray Love), and Will Forte (A Good Old Fashioned Orgy). This original comedy is directed by Akiva Schaffer (Hot Rod) and slated to hit theaters on July 27th, 2012.
The official plot: “Suburban dads form a neighborhood watch group to get time away from their families, only to discover a plot to destroy Earth."
Combine that premise with the cast and screenplay writers and you get a modern twist to a fairly typical theme, only this time the slackers are dads looking for some quality bromance time when things go awry. While out “on patrol” they encounter a situation that, as producer Shawn Levy puts it, they’re “ill-equipped” to handle. Can you say aliens?
Screenplay credits for Neighborhood Watch go to talented tandem of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen might be best known as an actor, but he is also one half of the writing dynamic duo responsible for such comedy gems as Pineapple Express and Superbad.
Let’s hope this effort turns out to be the quintessential combination of Hollywood elements and becomes the #1 comedy of 2012. Let’s also hope that the incredibly shrinking Jonah Hill is as funny as a skinny man - or else repent and start eating cheeseburgers again.
