Liam Neeson is turning into quite the action star late in his career, which is pretty damn cool. In The Grey Neeson reunites with A-Team director Joe Carnahan for a survival tale that finds plane crash survivors battling the arctic elements (wolves, freezing temperatures), while awaiting an improbable rescue.
The films newest extended trailer shows us some interesting developments to the story line. For instance, Neeson isn't the lone survivor of the crash. He's joined by a decent supporting cast with the likes of Dermot Mulroney (Dirty Steve in Young Guns) and James Badge Dale (The Pacific) rounding out his crew. He was also an enforcer/security dude for a group of oil drillers prior to the crash, so he's more equipped than his fellow passengers to hack it in the great outdoors. Plus, Neeson has the love of a good woman to use as motivation to return home, while his homies will likely be wolf food.
The reasons for optimism here are many: Awesome headlining star (Neeson), a solid writer/director (Carnahan) with many good action films on his resume, and a super cool plot (survival of the fittest).
The Grey will crash land (pun intended) into theaters on January 27, 2012.
