Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 2:17PM 8-Minute Trailer for 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' and More...

Say, wouldn't you be interested in watching the previously unreleased 8-minute trailer for David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? I'd say: "Yes, I would and thank you very much." Not only is the films extended trailer quite succinct in establishing the films plot, it showcases very strong incentives to go see the film in theaters. See the extended trailer after the jump.
If you're unaware of who's scoring the soundtrack, look no further than previous collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross on Fincher's previous film, The Social Network. They've released the entire soundtrack list which you can see here and (in someone's marketing genius) released six tracks of the film for free. That's 35 minutes of TGWTDT soundtrack for a free download here.
Here's the extended trailer you've all been waiting for:
Should I also mention that the 8-minute trailer was scored seperately from the rest of the movie? These guys are commited.
If any of you have seen the original Swedish made-for-television adaptation, you will surely be surprised by how it lacked the very visual flair the source novel, written by Steig Larsson, had required. I'm certainly excited to see the whole film from Fincher and co. Not to mention how Rooney Mara will convey Lisbeth Salander, a very strong-willed female hacker/investigator.
Not to mention the recent events where film critic David denby at The New Yorker ignored an embargo on the movie's review until after December 13th, Fincher's solution was quite extreme. All to say that the film is generating buzz online and in the media bringing forward an already large profile for the film opening during the holiday glut of studio releases. They have to distinguish themselves to audiences (who aren't familiar with the material or previous movie adaptation) somehow.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is directed by David Fincher and written by Steven Zaillian, based upon the novel by Steig Larsson. Starring Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Stellan Skarsgård and Christopher Plummer. The film will have a wide release 21 December, 2011.
