Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 9:58PM Taylor Lautner and Michael Bay Shopping Project Together

What if I told you that the most wanted young actor in Hollywood today and the king of the big budget blockbuster wanted to make a movie with you? Would that be something you might be interested in? Maybe not for most of this site's readers, but if you're a studio exec your answer is a resounding "HELL YES!"
Word out of Tinseltown today is that Taylor Lautner and Michael Bay have come together and are shopping a script they want to get off the ground to all major studios in hopes of inciting a bidding war. Hit the jump to find out what we know about the star and director's next potential project.
According to Deadline, who broke the story, Bay and his production company Platinum Dunes "aggressively courted" Lautner to star in a film for them that would be ready for production start in 2012. After some negotiations, Lautner agreed and he and Bay then went on to "handpick" a screenwriter to pen said project.
The screenwriter was an interesting choice, as the pair decided on Jason Hall who only has one credit to his name (2009's Spread starring Ashton Kutcher). But what isn't surprising is the subject matter or the film Hall wrote for them, an action piece described as "Mr. and Mrs. Smith meets Wanted".
I can't be the only one thinking that this unholy alliance was bound to happen sooner or later, and frankly I'm shocked it took this long. But, I guess now is the perfect time as both have franchises coming to an end within the next year. Lautner's run on The Twilight Saga is just about wrapped and the next few films he has on his slate will keep him booked until 2012 when Bay will finally be ready to start his next picture after Transformers: Dark of the Moon is released this summer.
So, besides the obvious fact that this film is going to make a floppity jillion dollars at the box office, what are your thoughts? Could it actually end up being any good?

*facepalm*
Depends on the screenwriter. If the script is good, it could be pretty entertaining. Bay can do blockbusters.
Okay, how many romantic comedy action couple movies did we have last year? I think three right? And how well did they do? And what makes this one different?
Need more concept.
